Awards and Write Campaigns!

What an exciting week! I wish to begin this week by thanking the lovely Rachael from Rach Writes for once again hosting the Write Campaign and to welcome members from the Write Campaign! It is a pleasure to meet you and feel free to make yourself at home!

For those of you who don’t know, the write campaign community is an excellent way to build friendships with fellow writers and bloggers. This is an awesome community that links together to build relationships while building author platforms.

If you are new and have not participated before, I would highly encourage you to do so! Some of the nicest people I have ever met in the writing community has come from the Write Campaign community.

Now, onto the awards!

Normally, I do a weekly roundup of my favorite links of the week. However, since I am giving out 2 awards this week, my weekly roundup will all win awards instead!

I have learned that my blog has won the Kreativ Blogger award! The award was given to me by Debbie Johannson, and I do thank you Debbie for the honor!

Let’s begin.

The rules for accepting the award are that we are to tell readers 10 facts about ourselves and then pass the award on to six fellow bloggers.Since this is a Kreativ award, I will create a music theme.

  1. My mom says that when I first began walking, my favorite thing to do was turn on the radio and listen to music as I drank a bottle.
  2. The first field trip I ever had was when my uncle took us to see Graceland right after Elvis died.
  3. I have been to two recording studios: Sun Studios in Memphis, TN and Motown Records in Detroit, Michigan.
  4. As a teenager and young adult, my friends often said that I acted like Riff Randall from the movie, Rock and Roll High School.
  5. I recently saw a picture on the internet of an Aleka’s Attic show I attended as a teenager and saw teenage me in the audience! *SQUEE!* :-)
  6. Before the Internet became mainstream, I could be found at record stores camping out for concerts and would have pizza delivered while I waited.
  7. The longest I camped out for a show? 2 1/2 days.
  8. Yes, I was first in line and did get front row!
  9. I take my iPod everywhere I go.
  10. What is on playing on my iPod at this moment? Rave On by Buddy Holly.

  1. Hi – fellow campaigner and new follower! I love music – it is with me everywhere. Nice to meet you – look forward to what you have to say :)

  3. Hello, just stopping by from the campaign to wave at you! I used to live in the South (New Orleans) and love anything set in a humid mossy land of grace and beauty. Looking forward to reading more.

    • Pleased to meet you Cindy! I am starting a blogging series tomorrow which I hope will help the new writers and bloggers I have been meeting during the campaign. Thanks for commenting and hope you enjoy the campaign! :-)

  4. Hello Christy!! (or fellow chocolate lover!)
Just doing the introductory rounds for the campaign (this will be first of many I hope.) Definitely picked you up for my twitter and FB accounts, and I LOVE your blog. Take care :)

    • Ahhh, a fellow music lover *claps hands with glee*

Hmmmm, not sold on Spotify J.A. . With all of the recent attention of SOPA and PIPA, I feel strongly that artists and writers should be paid for what they create.

Did you hear that favorite bands and songwriters? You’re so welcome! :-)

  5. Hey, thanks for stopping by. I remember you from the last campaign. Here we go again! Also, must say that its always wonderful to find someone who listens to Rock and Roll. The Tour of Sun Records ranks up there as one of my favorite tourist moments. Looking forward to reading your campaign entries!

  6. Aww girl, thank you so much for the Sunshine Award – you’ve got me smiling and bouncing around like Tigger now. :) I love your take on the Kreativ theme. Waiting in line for 2 1/2 days? Now that’s dedication!

  7. Aww…Be still my heart, I am so pleased to accept this gracious award from the Christy Farmer Acadamy of Happy Thoughts! You are an inspiration, Madame. Now what would Charlize Theron do at this point? (Jumps down from stage, heads to Farmer’s chair prepares to kiss a**) Lol!

  10. Congrats on your awards — loved reading the facts!

Thank you for wanting to give me the Kreativ Blogger award, that’s so sweet of you, but I’ve had an embarrassingly rich week of awards, and I think it would be best if you passed the Kreativ Blogger Award to someone else. Thanks again for thinking of me, though!

  11. I would like to thank the members of the Academy, my co-stars, the crew, my publicist, my agent, my kids…who should be in bed by now…go to sleep kids!…..my parents, my neighbors…(music starts playing ushering award recipient off stage)…. my idol Dave Barry, my stylist, my physical therapist, Christy Farmer, and uh….. uh…..uh….. I’m worried I’m forgetting somebody….

Oh yeah, my wife! What’s her name! Thank you so much!
    :)

  12. Thank you Christy for the award. You made me smile today with your post and the answers. I saw the campaign notice, but don’t think I’ll officially participate again until the fall. I will do what I’ve done in the past and sneak over to find some cool blogs to follow. Have a great week.

  13. Thanks for the shout out! So I have to provide 10 music facts about myself? Beyond the wholly embarrassing music posts I do every Friday? COOL!!!

So what was the concert for which you camped out for 2.5 days? I never made it that long – usually overnighters. Can remember Smithereens, Los Lobos, and Grateful Dead…

  14. First, a big congrats on your two awards! And secondly, thank you for thinking of me :) I appreciate that. You always make me smile, too, and especially now that I will forever associate you with Rock & Roll High School.
